Now it’s the time to watch out or else you can be sued if you download movies illegally via bit torrent. It’s been in the news that US Copyright Group has sued 20000 people for downloading torrents illegally and there are 30000 more people in the list who will be sued soon, they are doing this on behalf of film producers.
A technology company in Germany has developed new software which is use to watching real time peer-to-peer activities of internet users and has the ability to capture IP address of users who are illegally downloading full length movies. There is no such restriction on downloading movie trailers.
“The genesis of this legal campaign occurred in Germany when lawyers from the US Copyright Group were introduced to a new proprietary technology by German-based Guardaley IT that allows for real-time monitoring of movie downloads on torrents. According to Thomas Dunlap, a lawyer at the firm, the program captures IP addresses based on the time stamp that a download has occurred and then checks against a spreadsheet to make sure the downloading content is the copyright protected film and not a misnamed film or trailer.”
In past companies tried to capture illegal movies downloaders but failed but now they came up with a very strong application which seems to be work pretty well for them according to Open Copyright Group. Lets see how well this application works for them.
