If we are to believe the latest figures from Microsoft, Then Windows 7 really made the big breakthrough for 64 -bit software. The entire 46 per cent. of all Windows 7 users have installed a 64 -bit version, while slightly more – 54 percent . – Has a 32 -bit version.
That compares with that less than 1 percent . Windows XP users have a 64 -bit version, and if you look at Vista , only 11 per cent. which has installed 64 -bit edition.
One of the great benefits of switching to 64 – bit is of course that the OS supports a larger working memory. Windows 7 is designed to use up to 192 GB of memory, but the theoretical limit is much larger.
Microsoft believes that the growing interest in 64 -bit and can be justified in declining RAM prices and hand with the general growth in the number of devices and applications that are compatible with 64 bits.
According to research firm NPD was Windows 7 64 -bit installed on 77 per cent. of all new computers sold in the month of April in the U.S.
