Nokia: We Give Priority to Performance Over the Design

Fairly predictable initial reactions from major competitors after the Apple’s press conference have not had to wait.

Among smartphones considered by Apple to show the common problems of signal attenuation there was no model Nokia but the Finnish house has been caught on the bandwagon to ride the wave to the media and counter allegations of Jobs with an official statement .

The antenna design is a complex subject and it was one of Nokia ‘s core competence for decades , through the development of hundreds of phone models. Nokia has been a pioneer in the internal antennas , the Nokia 8810, launched in 1998, was the first commercial phone with this feature.

Nokia has invested thousands of hours in the study of human behavior, including the way in which people take their phones to call , listen to music , surf the web and so on. As you would expect from a company focused on connecting people , we give priority to performance relative to design, in the event that conflict .

In general, the antenna performance of a mobile device could be compromised with a tight grip , depending on how the device is hand held . That’s why our phones are designed to ensure acceptable performance in all real life situations , such as when the phone is used with both hands. Nokia has invested thousands of hours of work to find solutions to these problems , such as placing the antennas at either the top , and bottom of the phone, making a careful selection of materials for use in mechanical design.

RIM, HTC and Samsung will do the same ?
