Apple: 3-Axis Gyroscope In The Next Generation Of iPad

by Skipper on August 12, 2010

The next generation of Apple iPad is expected in 2011 and a report claims that the new iPad will have a 3-axis gyroscope like in iPhone 4. Currently Apple used the device from InvenSense but they are planning to use the similar device from STMicroelectronics. Apple introduced gyroscope in iPhone 4 that detects the angular speed of the device on 3-axis.

An analyst at UBM’s TechInsights believes that Apple is testing gyroscope on iPad. Steve Bitton said;

Apple has the idea of including a gyroscope and probably has tested the idea of using the ITG -3200 InvenSense, since it was the first digital three-axis gyroscope. Apple has certainly decided to wait until the next iteration of the iPad to introduce gyroscope capabilities to use ST Micro’s L3G4200D to reduce the amount of development required.”
