The first month after launch of iPad the sales of Macs were not effected but now the situation is bit different. iPad might now cannibalize the Mac, says Katy Huberty from Morgan Stanley.
Huberty viewing sales figures from July, when Apple’s Mac sales grew 14 percent over the same period last year. This figure is otherwise better than the overall PC industry growth of 11 percent and thus gives Apple a little edge.
Yet Huberty believes that Mac sales may suffer somewhat in competition with iPad. Apple has had much higher growth rates in the last month of more than 25 percent increase in Mac sales.
“iPad popularity has probably contributed to reducing both the standard PC and Mac growth,” writes her.
Recently downgraded their expectations for the Asus EEE as a direct result of competition from iPad.
