Update on the Chrome Web Store, Apple Store Made in Google

by Mr. Panda on August 22, 2010

It is still in Cologne, definitely the center of world media this week , that one learns more about the Google project to implement a Chrome Web Store open to developers. What should we expect ?

An “App Store” yes, but for the Web:

As the Android Market, the idea is to provide a directory of free and commercial web applications, available online , and this before the end of the year!

And the idea is actually quite good for looking a little … there is currently no service that offers to download applications for the Web , that is able to run in a browser and without being installed on a disk . You dreamed? No? In any case Google does . We therefore find applications that the user can install the sandstone in the browser and run them via a shortcut easy access .

Towards a Chrome OS?

The idea is to run in an ideal “Googleyen” to establish an operating system entirely based on applications, Picasa and Gmail are examples known, but certainly we will lay the developers of other pearls and other games . All this will be linked to Chrome Web Store .

Launched in October ?

It was the announcement that was made in Cologne, that the store would emerge during October. This seems to be confirmed since last few days, developers can download the web service allowing them to test and post applications that feed into the shop soon. And the other good news is that the costs would be lower than for the App Store, which should lead to a greater number of developers to engage in the manufacture of small gadgets or services. For the visitor, the payments will be made through Google Checkout house system , which saves the bank details on registration only, facilitating subsequent purchases . This system would cringe the most cautious of us . To go into details, Google confirmed that it will charge a commission of 5 % ( + $ 0.30 ) on each transaction , a minimum of $ 1.99 is required, however . To this must be added $5 at registration and the launch of the first application only. For comparison, Apple, our 30 % commission !

And the chef’s surprise !

According to some rumors, we should expect a future tablet embarking Chrome … The iPad has to behave.
