Within this week Twitter will integrate push notifications on its official client for iPhone. Let me tell you that twitter offered this service to iPad users when there was some configuration error and later disabled this feature when they fixed that error.
Currently there’s confirmation that Twitter iPhone is in a test phase. For the moment only people who have seen the notifications are those who have installed the GM iOS 4.1. In short, then the application will have the official Twitter useful push notifications. Recall that the notifications allow you to receive messages even when the application is closed.
Here’s Twitter’s official statement on this new feature;
We are internally testing push notifications feature. When Twitter was launched for iPad, there was a configuration error in it that caused us to offer push messages to a small set of users. We’ve stopped sending push messages, but users may see an option to turn on push until we release an updated version of the app. So, push isn’t ready yet but we look forward to rolling this out soon.
