A new patent applied for by Apple describes how to use motion sensors to create a three-dimensional user interface of iPhone OS devices. The California company is perhaps paving the way for a new GUI in 3D ?
As stated by the patent:
The invention comprises a viewing environment for mobile devices that uses orientation data from one or more embedded sensors to detect and automatically display a perspective projection of 3D orientation based on data without the user’s physical interaction on dispaly .
Simply put, thanks to the sensors integrated into the device as the gyroscope, depending moves the device shows different images, with the feeling of interacting with a three-dimensional graphical environment.
In addition to the gyro, Apple mentions the use of sensors that detect movements on the surface of the display, so as to make possible the manipulation of 3D objects within the user interface. The patent was originally filed during the third quarter of 2010 by Patrick Piedmont.
